I didn’t see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life.

Learn to be in the moment, focusing on one task at a time, and immersing yourself completely in that task. If you aren’t passionate about a certain task, allow yourself to move on to something you’re more passionate about. The more passionate you are about a task or a project, thr more energy you’ll put into it, and the better you’ll do with it.

The problem with constantly trying to increase volume is that it doesn’t always produce the best results. Doing a huge number of things doesn’t mean you’re getting anthing meaningful done.
I’ve come to the conclusion that working hard, while never a bad thing, is not really the magic thing that leads to great inventions or successful outcomes. Much more important than working hard is knowing how to find the right thing to work on. Paying attention to what is going on in the world. Seeing patterns. Seeing things as they are rather than how you want them to be.
